Dear Houston Lawyers Association Members and Supporters,

It is with immense gratitude, humility, and excitement that I welcome you to the 2026-2027 bar year as President of the Houston Lawyers Association. 

For more than 71 years, HLA has been a powerful voice for justice, professional excellence, and community leadership throughout Houston and beyond. As I assume this role, I do so with a deep appreciation for the generations of attorneys, judges, elected officials, and community leaders whose service and sacrifice have shaped this organization into what it is today. I am honored by your trust in me and mindful of the responsibility that comes with leading an institution whose legacy has impacted countless lives. 

This year, our theme is “Building Leadership Today; Sustaining Legacy Tomorrow.” Leadership is not simply the holding of a title, it is an investment in people, a selfless pursuit of equitable outcomes, and the commitment to preparing the next generation to carry the mission forward. As we embark on this bar year together, I invite our members and supporters to actively engage in the work of HLA.

At a time when public confidence in our institutions is being tested and principles of democracy are increasingly challenged, the legal profession has the responsibility to step up. We fuel the legacy of our founders by standing for the rule of law and ensuring the voices of our communities continue to be heard for generations to come. 

As we look ahead, I want to pause to recognize those who brought us to this moment. To our past presidents, board members, committee leaders, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners – thank you. Your dedication and countless contributions have left an indelible mark on the Houston Lawyers Association and our profession. Because of your efforts, HLA continues to stand as a beacon of leadership, service, and advocacy. 

I look forward to working alongside each of you as we honor our history and embrace the new possibilities. Thank you for your continued support for the 2026-2027 bar year.
